Four things every new real estate agent should do to find success.

To all new real estate agents: Congratulations! This is a very exciting time, and you are embarking on a crazy but rewarding journey. There are plenty of things you should be doing as a new agent, like choosing a brokerage, creating a website, and setting up your database. However, those are just the basics—I want to share what will help you go above and beyond. Here are four things you should do to succeed as an agent:

1. Set a routine. I firmly believe this is the start of success. You don’t have to plan out every second, but you should have a map of your day and what you’re going to do when. That way, all of the important things get done, and you give each task the appropriate amount of time. Don’t be hard on yourself if you mess something up. Give yourself time to work out all the kinks and get used to having a schedule.

2. Master your market. It’s imperative that you know the details of the area you’ll be working in. Do a lot of research on the demographics and stay up to date on the news. Know about the population, where the schools are, what local regulations are in place, which restaurants and entertainment venues are worth promoting, and more. Your expertise in the specifics will set you apart.

“Any new position can be overwhelming to learn, so don’t run yourself dry.”

3. Take care of yourself. You need to be prepared to work hard, hustle, and face tough situations. However, any new position can be overwhelming to learn, so don’t run yourself dry. Set boundaries, make time for yourself, exercise, and do what you love. If your tank is empty, you won’t be able to do your job well and be there for others.

4. Consider getting a mentor. This transition can be hard, so don’t do it alone. A mentor will help you stay on top of money-making activities and keep you on the right track.

I have learned the hard way that these four things are essential to finding success. If I can help in any way, please let me know. Call or email anytime; I would love to hear from you.
